MIRROR (EXT)  POWER MIRROR CONTROL SYSTEM  OPERATION CHECK  


CHECK OUTER MIRROR SWITCH OPERATION


a.

Turn the ignition switch to ACC.


b.

With the mirror master switch set to L, check that the mirror surface moves up, down, left and right normally.


c.

With the mirror master switch set to R, check that the mirror surface moves up, down, left and right normally.



CHECK POWER RETRACTABLE MIRROR (w/ Power Retractable Mirror)


a.

Turn the ignition switch to ACC.

At each position of the outer mirror body, check the retractable mirror operation when operating the mirror retract switch of the outer mirror.

i.

Move the mirrors to the driving position.


ii.

Press the mirror retract switch.


iii.

Check that the right and left mirrors move from the driving position to the retracted position.

Move the mirrors to the driving position.


v.

Move one of the mirrors to the forward position by hand.


vi.

Press the mirror retract switch.


vii.

Check that the mirror in the forward position moves to the retracted position, and check that the mirror in the driving position moves to the retracted position.

Move the mirrors to the driving position.


ix.

Move one of the mirrors to the retracted position by hand.


x.

Press the mirror retract switch.


xi.

Check that the mirror in the driving position moves to the retracted position.

Move the mirrors to the retracted position.


xiii.

Press the mirror retract switch.


xiv.

Check that the right and left mirrors move from the retracted position to the driving position.

Move the mirrors to the retracted position.


xvi.

Move one of the mirrors to the driving position by hand.


xvii.

Press the mirror retract switch.


xviii.

Check that the mirror in the retracted position moves to the driving position.



c.

Check the operation of the outer mirror body in relation to mirror retract switch operations and position changes.

i.

When the mirror body is operating, turn the ignition switch off and check that the mirror operation stops immediately.


ii.

Repeat the step above. This time, before the mirror operation completes, turn the ignition switch to ACC and press the mirror retract switch. Check that the mirror operates in the opposite direction.



d.

Check the operation of the outer mirror when it is restrained by an obstacle.

i.

When the mirror is moving to the retracted or driving position, restrain the mirror by hand. Check that the mirror stops moving.


ii.

With the mirror stopped partway, push the mirror retract switch. Check that the mirror moves in the opposite direction it was moving when it was restrained.




CHECK MIRROR HEATER (w/ Mirror Heater)


a.

Turn the ignition switch to ON.


b.

Check that pressing the rear window defogger switch illuminates the indicator and warms the mirror surface.


c.

Check that after approximately 15 minutes, the indicator turns off and the mirror heater deactivates.
